The lighting technology that enabled cool LEDs to replace hot high intensity discharge (HID) lamps for indoor grow lights for plants has enabled a revolution in another lighting category – outdoor solar lighting. This revolution has been made possible by the availability of bright white LEDs at reasonable prices. Solar lighting costs have declined to such an extent that solar lights are competitive in price with wired lights but offer far more convenience and significant operating cost savings.
Providing atmosphere for an outdoor party is a rapidly growing use for solar lighting. Party lights come in a myriad of shapes and styles: lights on tall stakes to surround a patio; globe lights or lanterns that hang from umbrellas, lines, trellises, or rafters; string lights in a variety of designs, rope lights, lights that attach to rails, and lamps that sit on tables. Light designs may even inspire your party theme.
Except for a flashlight, solar stake lights are about the easiest of all outdoor lights to use. Just push them into the ground where you want them.
Solar lighting is increasingly being used to add interest to the night garden. Solar garden lights direct light out or up to accent landscape features and building facades. Accent lights are available in many styles, shapes and materials to achieve special effects in the garden.
